Thematization of the cultural content during the River Festival

The river festival puts even more emphasis on cultural content also in the folk festival program and has a cultural theme for each year. This year’s Elvefestival has dance as its theme and offers exciting content where dance is the focus. The program of entertainment and activities at Bragernes Torg, Strømsø Torg, and Union Brygge will offer a lot of dancing, both dance performances and many opportunities for the public to join in the dancing. For example, take part in a swing competition, this year’s event “Cityball” on Bragernes torg, Saturday dance, or Salsa night.

Thursday 22 August: The festival square at Bragernes torg:

• 18:00 – 22:00 Aass Bryggeri 190-year anniversary bar is open
• 19:15 Mayor Kjell Arne Hermansen opens the River Festival 2024
• 19:30 – 20:15 “Diversitas” The opening performance of the River Festival, spectacular dance performance, choreography: Wenche Brun, dancers: Cengiz Al (among others known from Skam, Tre Nøtter Til Askepott, Skal Vi Danse), Ingrid Schade (among others known from The Norwegian Opera) and others. dancers from Attic.

Friday 23 August The festival square at Bragernes torg:

• 15:00 – 00:00 Aass Bryggeri 190-year anniversary bar is open
• 15:00 – 16:00 DJ Eric Makobu plays
• 15:00 – 18:00 After work Drammen Vibes, and DJ Eric Makobu play danceable music!
• 19:00 – 22:30 City ball with Drammen Storband and Carl-Henrik Nilsen on vocals (put on your fiestas and join in the dance)
• 22:30 – 00:00 DJ Eric Makobu plays in the breaks between the sets of Drammen Storband. After that, the big band is finished for the evening.

Strømsø: 18.00 – 23.50 Minifestival Plenen in Tollbugata. The Loch Ness Mouse Johnny Hide and Rune Berg are coming to play! Free entry as always.

Brager’s: 20:00 – 00:00 40 – “FORS” at Café Picasso 17:30 – 18:30 Aass Bryggeri 190 year Anniversary walk.

Union Park: 18:00 – 18:45 and 19:30 – 20:15 Dance and Hiphop in Unionparken. See Øvre Eiker Cultural School, Casse-Cou Project, and the dancers from the Dance workshop.

Union Brygge: 12.00: New “MS Drammen” arrives at the pier and will be christened. There will be speeches, dancing, and opportunities for guided tours on board both Friday and Saturday.

Saturday 24 August The festival square at Bragernes torg:

13:15 – 15:30 Dance performances with young people, Øvre Eiker cultural school, Lise Kristoffersen and Casse-Cou project, and not least Annprincess comes and sings!

18:30 – 19:30 Dance with The Steel Chords (swing on the festival square’s dance floor)

20:00 – 00:00 Saturday dance with The Rocking Cadillacs (swing on the festival square’s dance floor)

Sunday 25 August The festival square at Bragernes torg:

13:00 – 18:00 Aass Bryggeri 190-year anniversary bar is open.

Relaxed Sunday atmosphere in the square. Our DJ plays jazz and chill music and it is possible to swing to calm rhythms on the dance floor at Festivaltorget.

Strømsø square: 11:00 – 15:00 Tollbugate market, on Sunday during the River Festival, the traditional market is organized in Tollbugate. During the Tollbugate market, there will also be a concert with “Singing Affair”.
